Pirate Basketball Seasons in Flux Due to Covid-19

The Covid-19 surge with the Omicron variant is affecting the schedules of both the men's and women's basketball teams at Ventura College. The women have had four of their last five contests postponed from Dec. 22 forward while the men have experienced three postponements over the Holiday break into the new year.

Both men's and women's Western State Conference opener scheduled for tonight, Jan. 5, were postponed due to health and safety protocols while the women's game Saturday Jan. 8 against Allan Hancock College has also been delayed.  

The VC men are currently scheduled top host Hancock on Saturday Jan. 8 at 5:00 pm at the Athletic Event Center. Fans who attend are asked to complete online health screening (https://campuscloud.readyeducation.com/#/cb/web-form/wSsYQc8eHBgDzHI8NcDDMA/start) before coming to the Athletic Event Center Fans can also purchase tickets in advance and print them at home, or purchase on a mobile device (https://ventura.vbotickets.com/events).

The men's home game against Moorpark on Saturday Jan. 15 has been postponed as well, but the women are still scheduled to play the Raiders that evening at 7:00 pm.

VC's men's team had games against LA Valley and Fullerton postponed and/or canceled earlier this season while the women did not play Glendale and LA Valley due to Covid concerns.

Fans are asked to watch our social media @VCPirateAthletics and our website at www.VCweplayhard.com to keep up with the latest schedule updates, including rescheduling of postponed games.

Please use the following guide when attending VC home athletics events.

  1. Purchase tickets online before coming to the home basketball event. Visit https://ventura.vbotickets.com/events to purchase tickets. Either print out your ticket and bring to the game or use your mobile device to get scanned in at the specific facility.
  2. Complete online health screening (https://campuscloud.readyeducation.com/#/cb/web-form/wSsYQc8eHBgDzHI8NcDDMA/start) before coming to a game.
  3. Indoor event attendees are mandated by the Ventura County Community College District to wear a mask. We also ask that you practice social distancing while attending Women's Volleyball and M/W Basketball.
  4. Events held at the Ventura Aquatics Center will follow the City of Ventura guidance for entering the facility. There is not a health screening process. but social distancing should be practiced.
