Pirate Spring Sports Return to Action

Pirate Spring Sports Return to Action

It has been 392 days since the Pirates competed in an intercollegiate athletic contest, but in two days the Jolly Roger will fly below Two Trees once again. On Saturday April 10 the VC baseball team hosts Cuesta College for a double-header and the Pirates' men's tennis team travels to Westmont College to usher in Ventura College's post-Covid athletic schedule. All 10 of Ventura's spring sports are scheduled to return to competition in the coming weeks, although fans will not be allowed inside venues due to county and state health department restrictions.

Pirate baseball welcomed Allan Hancock College on Wednesday at Pirate Park for a non-scored scrimmage to usher in the new seasons while the VC men's and women's swimming and diving teams return to the pool on Friday April 9 in a scrimmage meet at Bakersfield. The Pirate golf team travels to Santa Maria on Monday April 12 for the Western State Conference No. 1 meet hosted by Hancock, and women's tennis begins its season on Tuesday April 13 at Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks. Men's and women's track and field opens at a meet at Moorpark College on Friday April 16 and the beach volleyball team travels to Santa Barbara for a scrimmage on the same day. Softball will be the final team to return to action on Friday April 22, hosting a double-header against Mt. San Antonio.

All schedules can be found on the various team pages of www.VCweplayhard.com and are subject to change. Due to Ventura County Public Health guidance spectators are not allowed at college athletic events. We will live-stream as many events as possible on the Pirates' various social media platforms as wifi technology allows. As always, fans can access results, game stories and statistics on their favorite Pirate teams on the athletics website.
